A local housebuilder has raised hundreds of pounds in support of a charity set up by a 12-year-old boy from Redditch.

Redrow Midlands, which is currently building at Silverbrook Meadow on Foxlydiate Lane, has donated £500 to Friends of Isaac's Food Bank as part of its Community Fund initiative.

The food bank, which was set up in November 2020 by the then 9-year-old Isaac Winfield, helps struggling families in the community and helps combat food insecurity.

The money from the Community Fund, launched earlier this year, provides community organisations with donations to help them thrive with local causes encouraged to apply for their share of a £10,000 pot.

Sales Director at Redrow Midlands, Elaine Cartwright, said: "We are delighted to be able to support Friends of Isaac's Food Bank with our latest Community Fund distribution.

"At Redrow Midlands, we are committed to building thriving communities and it is inspiring to see what Isaac has created to help his community.

"We are proud to support his wonderful charity and its commitment to ending food poverty in Redditch."

Mr Winfield's food bank began as a pop-up greenhouse on his driveway, but the charity has now grown to have food bank sheds across five locations.

It has a team of 15 volunteers who help with the running of day-to-day activities whilst Mr Winfield, now aged 12, goes to school.

His mum and Director of Friends of Isaac's Food Bank, Claire Chapman, said: "This donation will enable us to continue supporting many families in the area and make sure nobody in Redditch goes hungry.

"This initiative wouldn't be possible without the selfless work of our volunteers, our supporters and of course, Isaac.

"I'd like to say a huge thank you to them all and to Redrow Midlands for its kind donations."
