Two young girls from Redditch have raised more than £1,000 in support of their nan who is living with dementia.
Erin and Leah Green, aged just 13 and 12, organised a 'Cuppa and a Cake' fundraiser for Dementia Care as a way of giving back to the cause following their nan, Sue, being diagnosed with the condition.
The fundraiser, which was supported by the First Redditch Girls Brigade, was held on Saturday, February 24 at the Bridge Church Community Centre.
Although the initial target was £200, the grandchildren managed to raise a staggering £1,150.
Their mum, Emma Green, said: "Everyone was so generous especially with the prizes for the raffle and the number of people attending has been beyond all expectations.
"The girls have worked so hard putting it all together, I am very proud of them. I just want to thank wholeheartedly everyone involved who made this event so successful."
The family have also issued a special thanks to those who donated prizes for the raffle including SSG Contracts, Jarvis Construction Ltd, Elite Fitness Redditch, ADI Process Pipework, Hunters Estate Agents, Nikki Lawrance Beauty Treatments, Chloe Elise Aesthetics, Boonitar Life Spa & Thai Massage, Mellow Me Massage Studio, Cadbury World, Atwell Farm Park, Redditch Golf Club, Liv's Pretty Paws, Stacey Connor, Sarah Trueman Nails, Nails by Lilly, I M Scents by Sam, TG Organics, Spiritually Nourished, Hacienda Hair, Empaths and Empowerment, Julie Field and Bake My Day.
Dementia affects around 900,000 people in the UK alone with this figure estimated to increase to 1.6 million by 2050.
