Nailsea Town Council is inviting residents to its annual residents meeting this month.

The meeting will take place on May 29 at the Nailsea Tithe Barn, located on Church Lane.

Registration starts at 6.30pm and the meeting is expected to get underway from 7pm.

The annual residents meeting is not a typical council meeting but an opportunity for the residents of Nailsea to learn more about the council's achievements.

It also provides a forum for residents to be heard.

North Somerset Times:

Cllr Anita Smith, chair of Nailsea Town Council, will be playing host and will present a Community Award.

She will also share the council's annual report, giving residents an insight into the activities of the town council over the past year and introducing the strategic plan for the next five years.

This plan will explain the council's key priorities, including enhancing council communications, improving sports, leisure and cultural facilities, enriching quality of life and community wellbeing, and championing environmental sustainability and climate change awareness.

Additionally, the plan focuses on improving transport access within Nailsea and enhancing the value provided by council operations.

Nailsea's local beat police team, among others, have been invited to the meeting, encouraging dialogue between residents and local community partners.

North Somerset Times:

A critical part of the meeting is a dedicated 40-minute interactive segment allowing for the council to answer public questions.

It's advised that any residents with questions or comments submit them before the meeting via email, phone or direct mail to allow the council to prepare sufficient responses.

However, if this is not possible, there will be an opportunity for questions to be put forward on the meeting night during a specified question time session.

To attend, residents will need to register on arrival, and voters must be current Nailsea residents.

Those in attendance can enjoy refreshments during the meeting.

A highlight of the annual meeting is the presentation of the Community Award, which honours residents who have made an exceptional contribution to the local community.

Residents should submit questions or comments before 5pm on May 27 to email: enquiries@nailseatowncouncil.gov.uk, telephone: 01275 855277, or by post to Clerk, Nailsea Town Council, The Tithe Barn, Church Lane, Nailsea, BS48 4NG.
